Best Sommelier in Catalonia 2017

Audrey Doré of El Celler de Can Roca restaurant has been named the "Best Sommelier in Catalonia 2017", this past July 10th, in Xerta, Tarragona.

Doré, who is French, was the victor at this competition organized by the Asociación Catalana de Sumillers (Catalán Sommeliers Association – ACS), scoring higher than the two other finalists – one of whom was representing her same restaurant.

Robert Tetas of El Celler de Can Roca and Ferran Vila of La Banyeta restaurant in Palol de Revardit, came up short of the final prize, which for the first time in history went to a woman sommelier. For her part, Doré will go on to represent the ACS at the Best Sommelier in Spain competition in 2018.

In addition to the award for "Best Sommelier in Catalonia", the July 10th Noche del Sumiller also marked the handing out of other industry awards, including "Best Enologist" to Albert Costa of Celler Vall Llach in DOCa Priorato, "Best Winery" to Recaredo", and an "Honorable Member" award that was bestowed on Josep Roca of El Celler de Can Roca.
