Spanish Wine Exports on the Right Path

The main conclusion reached at a recent symposium on the state of Spanish wine exports is that international sales of Spanish wines hold nothing but promise for this key industry.

Organized by the Observatorio Español del Mercado del Vino (Spanish Wine Observatory - OeMv), the Federación Española del Vino (Spanish Wine Federation) and ICEX Spain, Trade and Investment, this July 4th event provided an opportunity for industry experts to share their views on and goals for the future of the Spanish wine industry on an international level.

Entitled "Present and Future of Spanish Wine in International Markets", the day-long symposium dealt with themes ranging from the current state of the market, opportunities in Eastern Europe, trade barriers, opportunities for top-tier wines, quality certifications, online sales, and much more.

And while the conclusions drawn about the future of Spanish wine exports were highly positive, the event also served as a platform for proposing different ways to increase international sales even further, such as by improving coordination of participation in wine fairs, making better use of promotional efforts and grants, and working more closely with governmental agencies.

Wines look forward to a bright future in international markets.
