Getting Ready for the Best Pintxo!

The 2017 edition of the Campeonato de Pintxos Amstel Oro - Euskal Herriko Pintxo Txapelketa, Basque pintxos (or pinchos) competition, has been officially announced, with the dates set for this coming October 23-25th.

 

This extremely prestigious event attracts a maximum of eighty chefs from Spanish and French Basque Country and Navarre, who will compete in situ for the top awards at San Sebastián's Kursaal convention center. This group will include the five provincial pintxo champions from Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya, Navarre, Álava and Iparralde (French Basque Country).

A festival of quality, creativity, innovation and exquisite gastronomy, the Campeonato de Pintxos Amstel Oro - Euskal Herriko Pintxo Txapelketa is one of the most anticipated culinary competitions of the year, and certainly one of the most stunning displays of culinary invention turned into miniature, edible masterpieces.

The jury, which in past editions has included renowned Spanish chefs like David Muñoz, Martín Berasategui, Fina Puigdevall, Paco Torreblanca, Xabier Gutiérrez, Kisko García, Pedro Larumbe and Iván Domínguez, among others, will once again be charged with evaluating the pintxos for flavor, originality and presentation, as well as their potential on a restaurant menu.
